As midterms are next week, I thought I’d introduce you to some idioms/slang related to taking tests.

cram – to study for a test right before the exam (instead of studying regularly)

Students who cram for exams do not do as well as students who study regularly.

pull an all-nighter – to stay up all night studying for an exam (no sleeping)

He pulled an all-nighter last night, but he didn’t do well on the exam.

ace (an exam) – to get a very high or perfect score

bomb (an exam) – to do very poorly or fail

I aced the English midterm, but I bombed the chemistry midterm.

That’s all for now. Good luck on all your exams next week.
